The Watsonville Berry Co-op has been giving local growers a fair chance at making a profit in the competitive berry market for over 50 years. Started in 1954 when local growers weary of dealing with produce brokers decided to avoid the middleman and band together to market their own berries, the cooperative is now composed of 27 ranches whose strawberry and raspberry crops are marketed under the Berry Bowl label. The Watsonville Berry Co-op is a Northern California organization with most of the growers in and around Watsonville. This provides for better manageability and a better product. |
